Who are we?
Abies Limited is one of the longest established names in healthcare computing. Founded by Tim Benson in 1980, Abies has three main business lines: courses, consultancy and conferences.
Tim Benson CV
In 1980 Tim Benson founded Abies Informatics Ltd, and led the development one of the first successful GP computer systems and the Read Codes. He convened the European health care messaging standards committee for several years, which developed interoperability standards now used in much of Europe. He has written two books on health informatics and is an honorary senior research fellow at UCL’s Centre for Health Informatics and Multiprofessional Education (CHIME). He is one of the founders of Routine Health Outcomes Ltd.
Courses
Abies offers courses for suppliers and healthcare providers. Abies has trained more than 1000 people in HL7 Version 3 and SNOMED CT.
Conferences
Abies organises annual conferences for HL7 Uk and Implementing SNOMED CT.
Consultancy
Abies consultancy customers include NHS Connecting for Health (CfH), the Turkish National Health Information System, the Office of Government Commerce (OGC) and the Cabinet Office.
