Titanic Commemorative Medals These medals a have been 15 months in production and much thought has been put in to tell the story of the Titanic through a set of commemorative medals commissioned by Titanic Remembered and produced by the world famous Royal Mint. Our story starts with us remembering the Titanic and then building our commemorative journey from the construction of the Titanic until today and beyond. Titanic will always be remembered. The first medal shows the magnificent Titanic steaming westward ho! crossing the North Atlantic on her way to New York. This appears on the Obverse of all six medals. The reverse of the first just shows the ocean where Titanic sunk with the words Titanic Remembered. This simple design will let us all think about that night in our own time and in our own way. Belfast The reverse of the second medal show the stern of the Titanic and commemorates all those who designed and worked on her to build this wonderful ship – Titanic built in Belfast. Journey The reverse of the third medal shows passengers boarding the Titanic at Southampton. From steerage to First Class they are truly excited and can’t wait to get on board and start their journey on board the ‘Ship of Dreams’. The medal shows the journey from Southampton – Cherbourg - Queenstown – New York. Luxury The reverse of the fourth medal shows the most iconic image of luxury on the Titanic -the Grand Staircase. Passengers of all classes momentarily put aside their ‘Dreams’ and enjoyed the luxury of the ship. The medal has the inscription ‘a vision of elegance in a boundless dream’ Rescue The reverse of the fifth medal shows the Cunard ship Carpathia racing to answer the distress signals from the Titanic. Discovery The reverse of the sixth medal shows the bow of the Titanic when she was discovered. Overlaid is the sonar image using the words ‘Remember Titanic’. Remembered
