WWII Luftwaffe Observers watch
by Laco

Laco was one of the few high quality watch producers in Germany during WWII, that were selected to make accurate timepieces for exclusive issue to Luftwaffe aircrew.

As you will no doubt have seen on the other Laco watch page of our site, this is the alternative offering of the Oberserver style watch, without the Nachtjagdgeswader insgnia printed on the face. It is not part of a 500 piece limited edition, but may appeal more to those who want the face to appear exactly as it would have during WWII - that is, without unit insignia printed on the face.

The picture opposite illustrates an original WWII Laco Observers watch, produced in 1941, lying next to the newly made version. As you can see, the new watch is somewhat smaller in scale, although matching exactly in detail. The original Observer watches had a 55mm case diameter, and were designed to be worn over the sleeve of a thick flight suit. This of course would not be practical to wear on the naked wrist for everday modern use, so Laco have made their reproduction in the scaled down wristwatch size of 42mm, whilst maintaining all of the authentic details.

These Laco watches are superbly made, as you would expect, coming from THE country of high quality watchmakers - and Laco was one of the best!
