USAAF Type A-3 Eastman
Winter Shearling Flight Trousers

Flying at high altitudes and in cold weather, called for a special item of clothing to keep American airmen warm. To meet this need the Army Air Corps designed the A-3 flying trousers - companion item to the B-3 jacket.

A-3s were actually ordered by the Army Air Force along with the B-3 jacket as a suit, not as a seperte item. For every B-3 jacket that was made, there was a respective pair of A-3 trousers.

Made from the same materials as the jacket, they were designed to be worn with the B-3 in extremely low temperatures.

We have decided to recreate clothing history, and make available for the flight clothing enthusiast the Type A-3 Flying Trousers once more.

Made from high quality North American sheepskin, our A-3s match the original item to the finest detail. Trimmed with Russet Brown Horsehide (Seal Brown Horsehide by request if you wish), authentic A-3 woven label, correct 1 1/2" 100% webbing suspenders which have the authentic white underside, and authentic Talon zippers, make this another must for your flight gear collection.

Incredibly, these trousers actually require a greater square footage of sheepskin material to produce than a jacket, so are priced accordingly, but we've kept them as low as possible.

Available in sizes: 38 - 46 (these are corresponding chest sizes. i.e. if you wear a 40 jacket, then you will need a size 40 in these. The size does not refer to the waist - this is how they were sized originally by the USAAF).
