Made from 1/4 inch sheep shearling, it was intended to fill the intermediate gap between the lightweight A-2, which was often not warm enough and the heavier weight B-3. It was designed to be used in conjunction with the A-5 shearling trousers, which were also made from 1/4 inch fleece. It was especially popular among fighter pilots - earlier fighter aircraft were without heating, (the P-38 was particularly cold), so a sheepksin jacket of some description was necessary. Being less bulky than the B-3 it better suited the cramped environment of the fighter cockpit. The B-6 is very practical in design. Being made from a 1/4 inch fleece depth, the jacket is by comparison quite light. With the aid of the bi-swing back and two front slash pockets, it is very comfortable and and easy to wear. Available in sizes: 34 - 48. | |||||
