What is First?

First is a broad spectrum supplement for horses in hard work, with added benefits for gut health, muscle growth, tissue repair and palatability.

What are the Other Benefits of Feeding First?

First contains a probiotic, which promotes gut health and stability and improves the digestibility of the horse’s feed.

First contains elevated levels of Natural Vitamin E. Natural Vitamin E is twice as active compared to the synthetic form. Vitamin E is involved with the protection and repair of cells from damage during exercise and as the horse’s workload increases, so does the requirement for this protection.

First contains three essential amino acids that are required for muscle growth and repair for the horse in hard work. Many supplements only supply Lysine, but First also supplies Methionine and Threonine.

First also contains Nucleotides, which are the building blocks of DNA and are required for cell synthesis. The production of Nucleotides requires time and energy, adding Nucleotides to the diet enables the horse to renew and repair cells more quickly and uses less energy. Nucleotides also have a positive effect on the digestive and immune system. First is formulated on a palatable and nutritious base and includes an apple flavour to encourage the fussy eater and bring familiarity to the ration.

Would First be Suitable for My Horse?

First is suitable for your horse if your horse is in medium to hard work, but receives less than the recommended amount of hard feed because they:
Are a good doer and get fat if fed the full amount.
Are excitable if they are fed the full amount.
Lose their appetite as they get fitter.

When and How Should I Feed First?

Feed First to your horse all the time that he is in work (from the start of his fitness program through until he is turned away at the end of the season) if he does not receive the recommended amount of hard feed

Put the daily amount (50g for horses or 25g for ponies) into the ration (or a small quantity of hard feed or chaff if your horse does not usually get any hard feed) and mix well. Dampen if necessary.

If your horse gets his ration in more than one meal, split the supplement accordingly (i.e. in 2 meals, put 1 measure in each meal for a horse, or half a measure in each meal for a pony)
