Information on changes to VAT

The new 15% VAT rate presents a dilemma for Marie Curie Cancer Care and we would appreciate your understanding and support on this matter. All the Christmas catalogues were printed and distributed months ago and the practicality of changing the prices would prove expensive and detrimental to the charity’s core objective, which is raising money to help provide more nursing care for terminally ill patients. Given that we are nearly at the end of the Christmas selling period and that any refunds on orders placed in December would be a matter of pence (usually c55p per order) to refund, and the fact that it would cost the charity at least £2 to administer the refund, Marie Curie Cancer Care will not be altering it’s prices for the Christmas catalogue in 2008. We are sorry we can not pass on these price changes to supporters at the moment, but the increase in profitability for the charity will go towards providing additional nursing care. All prices will be adjusted to incorporate the VAT reduction in the New Year. Many thanks.
