Limestone Flour
Finely Ground LimestoneWhat is Limestone Flour and What is it Used for?
Limestone Flour is a naturally occurring mineral that has been ground to a fine off white or grey powder. Limestone Flour is useful for providing calcium to horses on a high concentrate or cereal-based diet, and to mares that are in the latter stages of pregnancy or are lactating.
It should be noted that the calcium to phosphorous ratio is not suitable for elderly or growing horses, and Di-Calcium Phosphate is recommended for these horses.
When and How Should I Feed Limestone Flour?
Feed a maximum of 70g per day to adult horses, or 140g per day to mares that are in late pregnancy or are lactating. Put the daily amount into the ration and mix well. If your horse gets the ration in more than one meal, split the limestone flour accordingly
