HMS Cavalier signed by Lord Louis Mountbatten & Robert Taylor

Extremely rare sold out Limited edition print

HMS CAVALIER

In 1978, the late LORD LOUIS MOUNTBATTEN OF BURMA signed two limited edition prints of painting by Robert Taylor.  The prints depicted two famous destroyers each carrying the signature of Lord Mountbatten, together with that of artist Robert Taylor.  With their limited edition status and historical relevance accompanied with such a notable signature, it makes these prints a highly prized item.  Built in 1944, H.M.S. Cavalier served as escort on the treacherous Arctic convoys to Murmansk and survived constant U-Boat and aircraft attacks and furious mid-winter gales.  This painting captures everything that was so fearsome about those Arctic convoys.

Print size: 31" x 42"  Issue date: 1978

Here is what Lord Mountbatten himself said about this painting:

"As a wartime captain of a destroyer, and in command of the 5th Destroyer Flotilla, I have taken a keen personal interest in the preservation of HMS Cavalier - the last survivor of the classic destroyers. Robert Taylor's painting of HMS Cavalier is quite magnificent. He has captured magnificently the colors of the Arctic waters."

Admiral of the Fleet, Lord Louis Mountbatten
