This contract's full designation was 'W535 AC 28557 (42-18245P)'. Awarded to Star Sportswear in 1942, it was made from a veg tanned, Dark Seal Brown coloured Horsehide.
This was the one and only contract picked up by Star for A-2s, probably due to the fact that they were a relative late comer to the Army Air Forces list of contractors, and by the time they completed this contract the A-2 was about to be discontinued as a design anyway, in '43.
Nevertheless, the Star Sportswear A-2 contract was made in it's thousands, with a distinctly smart cut. Unlike most other manufacturers of the A-2, Star made theirs with a 'set-in' sleeve, with quite a high cut 'sleeve-head', giving the garment a somewhat sharper and more suit-like appearaance. The collar also was cut with deeper more pointed lobes, again giving a sharper look.
We have decided to offer a reproduction of the Star contract; one, because of it's distinct smart cut, two, because it offers our customers an original maker in the darkest shade of brown to be found on A-2s (a much requested shade), and three, because the original Star A-2 is quite a rarity, (as far as finding originals is concerned).
Our reproduction of this contract, is as usual, manufacturered to the highest degree of authenticity and quality. From the highest quality veg-tanned Horsehide, to the stitch style and cut, and right down to the label itself, this is the finest example of an A-2 reproduction money can buy. If you're an A-2 enthusiast in search of the ultimate A-2 reproduction - this is the end of the road!
As with most of our special edition jackets, our Star A-2 comes with an original wartime produced Talon zip, just to make it that little more unique and authentic.
Available in size 34 - 48.
